So Ganesha and Jesus have been sitting in the Deux Magots for the past few hours downing tequila shots when Pollock comes slobbering and joins them. It’s been raining all day. Their bell bottoms are soaked and their leather sandals are squishy, mud and bits of leaves stuck between their toes. Jesus lites another smoke and squints at Pollock, ‘Where’s Hermes, I thought he was with you? The little creep owes me money.
It wasn’t supposed be this way. They only came to town for a bit of pre-Christmas shopping but Ganesha got hassled at the border for importing ivory and when Jesus was asked about his passport things got out of hand. By the time they got to Paris the city was flooding.
Is this where super heroes go to die? Washed up on the left bank, surrounded by tourists?

I stopped at MAO in 1972 when I was touring Europe. It was a very large open loft space that was simliar to DIA in New York. I'm amazed that it's still there.
Hermes has been trying to piggy back their products by working with artists such as Buren and in New York Cristo & Jeane Claude. I wonder if Buren designed a scarf pattern for Hermes? It's an odd co-opting because at the rarified levels of Christo & Buren a lot of collectors also have Hermes leather goods.
That's the trouble with corporate support for the arts. They always think of it as a marketing position. The art always plays second fiddle or is subsumed by the product the corporation is hawking.
