Artists Meeting Minutes August 8th 2007

In attendance, Leesa & Nicole Abahuni, Thomas Hutchinson, gh, Ursula Endlicher.

We looked over Ursula’s 10 questions and gh’s answers.
The Dumbo Arts Festival had requested some video links and gh provided a list of links that included, Raphaele Shirley, Lee Wells, Lara Star Martini, Ursula Endlicher, and Brian Caiazza & G.H. Hovagimyan.

We are waiting to hear if the festival has accepted us for their program. The discussion was about the type of projection piece we wanted to do and what the content might be. Thomas suggested that the judging process by DAC become part of the piece. Leesa & Nicole commented on how we all tailor our art work to fit into what we think will appeal to the judges. GH talked about Baudrillard’s comment that with digital technology all media is performed or performable.

Ursula liked gh’s proposal to use the different creative commons licenses as a starting point for different types of collaborations. Thomas proposed a live text chat for the dumbo projections. The question was how to present the different types of text I.E. Text animation, chat windows, slide show etc… gh talked about Sawad Brooks java chat applet with colored text.

Among the ideas for presenting text were, a text-to-speech application and someone reading text. Leesa & Nicole proposed a mini sound system using belt clip sized battery powered marshall amps. They said the mini amps were $25 dollars each. Thomas suggested a surround sound that could be created with 6 mini marshall amps. GH said that the sound track for the projection piece may simply be a recording of one of the meetings.

There was also a discussion of the Brooklyn poly exhibition. Thomas, & Lisa & Nicole were going to try and visit Brooklyn poly on the day of the next meeting which is Aug.28th if they can get in touch with Hans and if he will be able to meet them.

Also types of projectors were discussed. Lee Wells has access to HD projectors, Paris Ionescu a new member has a friend who is promoting side of building HD and also log projections on sidewalks. Chris Borkowski forwarded a piece on a new fog projector.
