INTRODUCING Regina Rex in Bushwick

Sniffing out the latest in the burgeoning Bushwick art scene keeps James Kalm on a constant lookout. Nestled within a dilapidated industrial building so far out in Bushwick that it's in Queens, Regina Rex features work selected by this collaborative group's members, many former Chicago artists. Yui Kugimiya fabricates small acrylic painting using string, yarn, hair and other nontraditional materials. Fabienne Lasserre crafts her colorful sculpture from home made felt, found fabrics and paper. Both these artists seem to share a fascination with the whimsical, some times creepy side, of the abject. Includes an interview with Max Warsh.
