Multi-media – It’s long been understood that the cinematic experience is multi-media. At the minimum it involves sound and light. Or as the French say, “Son et Lumiere.” The screen is the main component. It is either reflected light or in the case of TV/computer it is excited particles on a screen. Sound as a structural element also creates a whole other area of constructed meaning. The interstitial reality of cinema is the location where these components intersect.
