Lala Rascic in Edinburgh and Perth

Lala Rascic - 'Sorry, Wrong Number', 2006

Lala Rascic is based between Edinburgh and Perth during Summer 2007, creating new process-based work as part of the Edinburgh Art Festival. The artist is creating artefacts and documentation which are presented via the ARC Projects web site, and evolving over the period of the residency for later exhibition in a gallery setting. Lala is keeping a journal of her residency in the form of a blog. You can read Lala's blog here.

Lala Rascic's work draws upon the aesthetics of old time radio plays where the performative act is the basis of assuming different identities. The artist often acts out multiple roles while playing with realities and developing fictituous narratives in her projects.

Lala Rascic was born in Sarajevo in 1977. She lives and works in Amsterdam and Zagreb. Recently, Rascic has exhibited at The Young Artists' Biennial, Bucharest; The Kitchen, New York; Overtones Gallery, Los Angeles; and Platform Garanti Contemporary Art Center, Istanbul. Forthcoming this year is her solo exhibition at the National Art Gallery of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sarajevo.

The residency is being hosted in collaboration with Threshold artspace, Perth; Edinburgh Art Festival; co-funded by the Scottish Arts Council; ARC Projects; Croatian Ministry of Culture. Elements from the work created during the residency will feature in a show later this year at Threshold artspace, Perth.
