Mayor's Statement
I am pleased to recognize all those associated with Time In, because they share my dedication to delivering the high-quality education our children need and deserve. Time In capitalizes on young people’s creativity, open-mindedness, and ability to embrace new ways of learning by immersing them in life-changing arts experiences in music, hands-on and visual arts, literature, and film. I commend the Board of Education, Region 10, and P.S. 241 in West Harlem for embracing this program, which will boost students’ self-esteem, improve their focus and independence, and allow them to experience their world in new and interesting ways.
Confucius said: “If you think in terms of a year, plant a seed; if in terms of 10 years, plant trees; if in terms of 100 years, teach the people.” By bringing the arts to underprivileged
young New Yorkers, the exemplary citizens behind the Time In Children’s Arts Initiative are nurturing our City’s future artistic, civic, and business leaders – and ensuring a brighter future
for us all. On behalf of the City of New York, please accept my best wishes for an enjoyable evening and continued success.Sincerely,
Michael R. Bloomberg
