James Kalm is suffering a hot time in the city, and the back of his neck is dirty and gritty, but the myth of sunshine, ocean breezes, surf and beach bunnies is irresistible. This three gallery mega show was curated by Jacqueline Miro and is presented at Friedrich Petzel and Metro Pictures Galleries.. It brings together art inspired by surf and beach culture, and features artists associated with the "Light and Space" and "Finish Fetish" movements from the 1960s as well as the seminal Ferus Gallery.
