NURTUREart Non-Profit Inc. is dedicated to nurturing new contemporary art by providing exhibition opportunities and resources for both emerging artists and curators. Founded in 1998 by George Robinson to realize his vision of a non-profit dedicated to supporting artists, NURTUREart is now located in Bushwick, Brooklyn, the heart of emerging art in New York City.
NURTUREart has four core programs:
Exhibitions
Each year, emerging curators, artists and gallery staff organize seven to eight exhibitions in NURTUREart's Bushwick gallery. NURTUREart has created more than fifty exhibitions to date, in addition to gallery talks, performances, and readings, both at the gallery and outside venues.
Muse Fuse
NURTUREart's monthly salon features an impressive variety of notable guest speakers from the forefront of the art world. These meetings provide a forum for the exchange of ideas and information and offer professional education, networking, and community-building opportunities. Attendees are encouraged to bring interesting news, info, exhibition announcements, and something to eat or drink to share.
Education Outreach
NURTUREart is dedicated to nurturing and enriching the next generation with its unique arts programs that connect practicing professional artists and curators with teachers and students. NURTUREart’s Education Outreach Program not only exposes students to contemporary art and possible future careers, but also teaches life skills such as responsibility, communication, teamwork, confidence, and critical thinking to underserved Brooklyn youth.
Special Events
NURTUREart’s special events bring a diverse public together to enrich understanding, challenge thinking, have fun and form a vibrant art community.
