A Taste of Greenwich House, Metropolitan Pavilion, Monday, March 11, 6:30 - 9:30 pm

On Monday, March 11, 2013, Greenwich House hosts the 11th Annual “A Taste of Greenwich House” event, presented by the Paul Singer Family Foundation. Top restaurants and chefs from around New York City will donate their services to support GH's wide variety of art and urban social service programs.

“A Taste of Greenwich House” once again returns to the 17,000 square-foot Metropolitan Pavilion at 125 West 18th Street in the Flatiron District of New York City. The event runs from 7:30-9:30, with a VIP hour from 6:30-7:30.

Guests will enjoy a variety of cuisine from around NYC as they support the critical programs of Greenwich House, including GH Pottery, the GH Music School, plus help for victims of child abuse, medical care for home-bound seniors, support for those living with HIV and AIDS, a substance abuse program, health and mental health programs, and many other vital social services.

A fundraiser initially created for Greenwich House’s Children’s Safety Project, in 2003, Taste has evolved in its range and outreach. This year, event guests helped Greenwich House reach its goal of raising over $200,000 to support its ten vital social service and arts programs, including treatment for victims of child abuse, medical care for home-bound seniors, after school programs for urban youth, senior wellness programs, and adults struggling with drug and alcohol addiction.

The VIP Experience

Chef Anita Lo, Owner and Executive Chef of acclaimed restaurant Annisa, will be the Featured VIP Chef this year. Chef Lo will be presenting Annisa’s popular ‘Salad of Fire,’ a roasted eggplant with Turkish chili in yogurt water, and signing complimentary copies of her new cookbook, Cooking Without Borders, for VIP Gourmet guests.

Other tasty Greenwich House neighbors and Village restaurants include The Little Owl, sampling their ‘Ricotta Cavatelli', a tomato broth, infused with bacon and fava beans; Market Table and its ‘Diver Scallop Crudo', a delicious scallop filled with grapefruit, fresh hearts of palm, pomegranate, and basil; and Gotham Bar and Grill’s ‘Vanilla Semifreddo', a fruity dessert drizzled with mango sauce and a coconut crunch at the bottom.

“These restaurants consistently bring their A game to the event,” notes Greenwich House Executive Director, Roy Leavitt. “With their support, we are helping improve services in the Village and beyond, particularly for the most vulnerable among us, from young children to senior citizens. Their commitment to this partnership makes our work even more worthwhile.”

Guests can wine and dine while bidding in the silent auction, which will feature items large and small, including ceramics from GH Pottery as well as surprise gift boxes.

Guests will also have opportunity to bid on luxury, high-end items in the silent auction.
