Richard Prince opened at Barbara Gladstone Gallery tonight with some old but mostly new work. Unlike the past few shows, which were consistant groups of similar work, this was almost a mini-retrospective not only of the work but of his themes and his obsessions through the years.

The result is creepy, made especially so by one work that has an audio loop of a whistled tune/toon that permeates everything else. He's managed to out creep the master Bruce Nauman.

Billowy Drowse
BILLOWY DROWSE

by Margarida Garcia and Barry Weisblat

Five minutes of improvisation combining an electronic double bass and a modified Casio-SK1 synthesizer. As a duo, Margarida and Barry have developed a spontaneous language and a dynamic range that is all their own. She journeys with the bass and electronic pick-up with her fingers, bow, sticks, stones and anything else she finds fit, while he experiments with electro-magnetic devices, homemade circuits, and modifications to existing electronic instruments. The textures that emerge from their performance peel back the layers of air, knot them together, and then let them simply hang.

GH interviews artist Kevin Clarke about his collaboration with Mikey Flowers, Dust to DNA:

On the morning of September 11, 2001, florist and volunteer EMT Mikey Flowers grabbed his digital camera and ran the few blocks from his store toward the World Trade Center. He aided the injured after the first plane hit, and then fled for his life when the south tower collapsed, capturing as many moments of the stupefying chaotic scene as humanly achievable. These images are the foundation for Flowers and artist Kevin Clarke's collaborative project, Dust to DNA, presented by Sara Tecchia Roma-New York in this one time venue.
