Exploring the artistic responses to crisis and the place of the moving image in today's Middle East, 'Cruel Weather' brings you a series of documentaries and experimental and mixed genre works, many of which have never before been screened in Scotland.

Screenings take place at various venues around Aberdeen, including Peacock Visual Arts, the Belmont Picturehouse and Aberdeen University.

The directors include Ayreen Anastas and Rene Gabri, Youssef Chahine, Wael Noureddine, Jayce Salloum, Jackie Salloum, Jayce Salloum and Elia Suleiman, Roy Samaha, Jalal Toufic, Akram Zaatari.

Cruel Weather is curated by Jay Murphy, of the University of Aberdeen's Centre for Modern Thought, and is organised by Peacock Visual Arts.

The festival has been organised in partnership with Filmhouse Cinema (Edinburgh), Glasgow Film Theatre and Dundee Contemporary Arts, where the festival tours afterwards.
