The second edition of DICTIONARY OF WAR July 22 and 23 in Munich, Muffathalle

http://dictionaryofwar.org

When it is about war the challenge nowadays seems to be to find the right words rather than to take the right side. In order not to leave this task to politicians, generals or their subordinated PR and propaganda agencies, the project DICTIONARY OF WAR has been started off a few weeks ago.

As one of the first artists to start working on the internet I’m acutely aware of how the online environment-language-discourse-semiology is evolving. People are beginning to talk about Web 2.0 as the next wave of the net.

Meta tagging is a key issue as more information is created for or migrates to the web. Meta-CC just went on line at: http://meta-cc.net/faq-new.php . Perpetual Art Machine offers a slightly different take on tagging; http://perpetualartmachine.com. My own piece RANTAPOD, http://spaghetti.nujus.net/rantapod has a rudimentory, evolving internal tagging system as well.

Hubert Dobler, "Gasoline"

GASOLINE
Hubert Dobler
Friday, June 2 – Sunday, July 2, 2006
Opening, Friday, June 2, 7–9pm
Jack the Pelican Presents
487 Driggs Ave, bet N. 9 and N. 10
Brooklyn, New York

In “Gasoline,” Hubert Dobler’s first NY solo show, he assaults the polite electronic façade of our postmodern service-industry landscape with his mean machine Honda CB550 Four, 1976. It is gasoline, the return of the repressed. No brakes. Muscular energy.
