How to Fix the Wall Street Mess ... from Michael Moore

Friends,

The richest 400 Americans -- that's right, just four hundred people -- own MORE than the bottom 150 million Americans combined. 400 rich Americans have got more stashed away than half the entire country! Their combined net worth is $1.6 trillion. During the eight years of the Bush Administration, their wealth has increased by nearly $700 billion -- the same amount that they are now demanding we give to them for the "bailout." Why don't they just spend the money they made under Bush to bail themselves out? They'd still have nearly a trillion dollars left over to spread amongst themselves!

Of course, they are not going to do that -- at least not voluntarily. George W. Bush was handed a $127 billion surplus when Bill Clinton left office. Because that money was OUR money and not his, he did what the rich prefer to do -- spend it and never look back. Now we have a $9.5 trillion debt. Why on earth would we even think of giving these robber barons any more of our money?

Rhizome art commission

This is Patrick May, the Director of Technology at Rhizome. I am writing to a number of leading arts and culture blogs to raise awareness of our Commissions program. The Commissions Program is one of Rhizome's most important activities, as it directly funds and promotes original works of new media art.

Rethinking Failure

The title piece, Would You Rather Be a Loser or a Pig? offers the viewer an extreme choice between one of two free bracelets: one reads "Loser," the other reads "Pig," reflecting the increasing tendency within the art world to define achievement solely in terms of financial earnings and conspicuous consumption.

Faced with the choice by Jennifer Dalton I took the coward's way out chosing a bracelet from the offered box blindly and came up a "PIG". If I'd only known this years ago...

My Bio for ISEA 2006 (unpublished)

categories: | | |

It is now July 2006, I was born on the 23rd of August 1958 in France. 30 years ago rock n roll music, me and others coalesced into a movement named Punk which died 2 years later having transformed me, others and the way folk culture is created and experienced. Less than 20 years after that the french hypermedia revue Pleine-Peau was started by me, others. They departed. I opened the first french blog ever in April 2000 again inviting others, it is still there at 2balles.cc, with others and me currently working out a blueprint.
